The 2008 tournament will include 16 teams, divided into 2 divisions. It will be played over 3 days, starting on friday, May 2nd, and ending in the afternoon of sunday, May 4th. The ice hockey arena where the tournament will be held is located in one of the southern suburbs of Stockholm, 10 minutes by foot from the commuter train station. We also hope to have a small bus to help players get to and from the train. The commuter train will take you to the arena from the city center in approximately 20 minutes. We highly recommend the teams to try and find accomodation within the city and close to a train station. Naturally, we will do our best to help you find a good place to stay.

Our idea for the tournament is to get international teams to Stockholm and to focus on the lacrosse. Our goal is not to make a huge profit. If fact, if the tournament breaks even we will be satisfied. In addition to the registration fee, we hope that selling food, drinks and t-shirts will help make this a recurring event, and let us all get together again in full glory in 2009.

The registration fee for the 2008 Sweden Box Lacrosse Tournament is €280/$400/SEK 2500 per team.

To secure a place for your team in the tournament, you are required to pay a deposit of €120/$150/SEK 1000 upon registration. This deposit is not refundable.

You may also make a preliminary registration without paying the deposit. In this case, you will not be guaranteed a place at the tournament. In either case, full payment of the registration fee is required before your team is registered.

If you wish to register for the tournament, please send an email containing

  • your team name
  • number of players
  • your name
  • contact information (email, phone ..)
to rolle@swedenbox.com.

We have received a lot of interest from both international and Swedish teams, and we expect the tournament to fill up fast. We are counting on the return of all teams that participated last year.

The following teams are registered to play at the tournament.

Söderköping (Swe)

Göteborg Seadrakes (Swe)

Luleå Snowmen (Swe)

Skoghall Pirates (Swe)

Lund (Swe)

Team Rebel (USA)

Sundbyberg (Swe)

Nordia (Swe)

FOC Farsta (Swe)

Turku Titans (Fin)

Games will be 3x15 minutes with two 3 minute breaks between periods.

The tournament will be played Friday 2nd of May to Sunday 4th of May as planned. But we have been forced to reduce the numbers of teams in the tournament further. All teams are now guaranteed at least 4 matches and both divisions are played in a round robin, and then the top 2 teams in each division will play a final.

We are happy to announce that the tournament have 3 referees this year as well. There will be 2 referees with a lot of experience from Canada, and 1 referee from Sweden. So all teams in both divisions will benefit from having their games managed by truly experienced box lacrosse referees.
